Thank you to our PSSC for spearheading an exciting initiative to bring an "artist in residence" to Terry Fox Elementary for the 2015-2016 school year. An assembly was held today, hosted by PSSC chair Jason Jessop, to introduce Hatem Aly. Mr. Aly is an illustrator born in Egypt and currently living in Bathurst. His work has been featured on TV and in children's books, one of which was shortlisted for the Etisalat Award for the Best Childrens Book in 2013.
We look forward to collaborating with Mr. Aly! Welcome to TFES!

Students at Terry Fox Elementary were treated to a world of magic on Friday, March 20th, with a captivating, bilingual performance by Remi Boudreau. His slight of hand amazed students and staff as doves flew, objects transformed, and even a white rabbit appeared! Ask your child all about it. They might even have a trick of their own to show you! Shown with Remi and the white rabbit are students, Tyler Godin, Bradley Carrier and Kenna Van der Pluijm.
Grade 4FI students in Mme. Lebreton's class spearheaded a month long campaign in February to collect donations for cats and dogs at the SPCA. Animal Control Officer, Colin McLean surprised students with a visit to the school and a guest appearance on TFES News with his dog Rocky. Thank you to all families who helped our students collect a vast array of supplies for the SPCA.
TFES hosted our annual bilingual event, "Straight from My Heart, on Thursday evening, February 26th. Congratulations to all of our participants! Thank you our judges and teachers. A special thank you to Mrs. Burtt for organizing this wonderful event once again this year.

Thanks to our many business sponsors, a fantastic group of volunteers and the support of parents, friends and family in the community, our 10th Annual Christmas Silent Auction was a success with just under $4000 raised, after expenses, to help enrich student learning here at Terry Fox Elementary. A stormy day on the 27th of November didn't deter bidders from heading out to the Gowan Brae for a festive evening with a variety of beautiful gift items to bid on.
Your child participated in a special event on Friday, December 5th. At the end of our dress rehearsal while we were all gathered as a school community in the cafeteria, we rang assorted bells and musical instruments or 'sway clapped like bells' in support of Kids' Mental Health. Every student was given a "Dots for Kids - Ring a Bell" sticker, so we could all 'connect the dots' at our school. We hope your child had the sticker on when they arrived home from school - please ask your child about it. Schools throughout the province participated in this event today.
